Painting classes are open to everyone who wants to hone their skills in oil, acrylic and watercolor painting. All levels are welcome.
Acrylic is an ideal medium for beginners as well as for the experienced artists who like to experiment with different techniques. These paints produce bright bold colors, and a wide range of textures and effects. As to oil paints, in this studio we are using mostly water-soluble oils. However, real oil paints are possible, with very limited use of turpentine. Some sessions will be devoted exceptionally to watercolors, which is probably the most interesting and at the same time the most difficult painting technique.
We’ll do still life, landscapes, genre painting and botanicals, working both from observation and photos, on canvas or paper. You’ll have a chance to work on your own projects and get professional instruction. Or, you can choose to have a guided lesson in painting , with the subject chosen by the instructor.
The Painting Studio will be held in Belmont:
- Mondays 6:40-8:40. Cost $22 per class;
- Tuesdays 10:00-12:00. Cost: $20 per class;
- Saturdays 10:45-12:45. Cost $25 per class.
I provide easels, palettes, color wheels, handouts, limited number of paints and paintbrushes. Buying some paints (especially oil paints) and painting surfaces is the student’s responsibility. You can pay the materials fee for the paints instead ($15 per 1 term).
