Art weekend, or just art night (it is not necessarily a weekend!) is a great opportunity to get social, connect with friends, and do something more creative than you would normally do. All levels are welcome. You’ll be painting in a small group, and there will be no identical artworks in our party. These art parties are designed for adults and teens 12+ with parent’s permission. Unlike most paint night parties, nobody is going to copy standard themes. I love to offer drawing and painting from observation of real objects, but even if we’re going to paint from references, your creation will bear the mark of your individuality. This art activity is not going to be a paint-by-numbers thing. My instruction will consist of offering the topics and media, explaining the basic principles of composition, short demo, and some technical advices regarding the media that you use. You’ll find out what is color, how it works and how to make it work in your paintings. Color creates emotions, and can be soothing or exciting, stirring or calming. You’ll have access to paints of multiple colors, and will also have handy a color wheel to check how they match. During the sessions we can use various artistic media: acrylics, watercolor, oil pastels, colored pencils, markers, charcoal, ink, etc. All the basic materials for the session will be provided, however, feel free to bring your own supplies that you like. You are also encouraged to bring pictures and other references you’d like to use during the session. The art night session is usually 2.5 hours, and includes, besides painting and drawing, snacks (wine in adult parties), music and conversation.
