ART 1: 5-6 years

easter1000

The main objective of art education at this time is to enhance developing of the creative thinking through drawing and painting from imagination and memory. Children are learning about  the basic elements of art: shapes, lines, color and texture. The classroom organization is choice-based. Students are at most times free to choose the medium that they like: paints, oil pastels, markers, pencils and/or modeling clay. I combine instructed and uninstructed practice in order to develop both craftsmanship and artistic approach. There will be no identical artworks in the class.  The classes focus on composition, sculpture, decorative arts and illustration as the form of narrative drawing. The emphasis is on creating the compositions and visual stories that express child’s feelings and understanding of the world around them.

These classes are 55 min long, and the children usually finish one or two projects during the class.
